Coach trip to RHS Wisley on the 27th October 2017, page 2
We had learnt about the Montefiore Dahlias at the last meeting of the gardening club. Pam Graham used our time at Wisley to enquire in the Wisley Library about the plants: Here are some of her findings (excerpt from the e-mail to Pam from the Librarian): From   The   Tentative   Classified   List   and   International   Register of Dahlia Names 1969.   ‘Lady    Montefiore’    is    classified    as    a    single    dahlia.    It    was introduced   by   Cheal   in   1888   when   it   was   awarded   a   First   Class Certificate   by   the   RHS   on   September   25th.   This   achievement was   recorded   in   the   Journal   of   the   Royal   Horticultural   Society, 1889.   Vol.   xi,   p.   xxix.   Its   colour   was   not   listed   but   the   Dahlia registrar   informs   us   that   it   has   sulphur   yellow   petals   fading   to peach colour tips.”
