Monday 8th October 2018 - 10:10 to 11:40 The weather was grey and cooler than of late. But still pleasant for October. We saw a number of birds that have not been recorded for some time; including: Jay ; Goldcrest  and Great Spotted Woodpecker . There were at least 2 Jays  collecting acorns and rummaging around in the leaf litter. A few gulls have returned. Several Herring Gulls  flew over and some Black-headed   Gulls landed on the lake. Song Thrushes  and Blackbirds  were feeding on holly berries. We hoped for a Redwing but no luck yet. Undergrowth has been cleared from the islands and around the edges of the lake. A full list of the birds seen is given in the Bird Table .
