Sunday 6th January 2019 - 11:30 to 13:00 It was good to get some fresh air and to start the records for the New Year - even if it was a little late. The two Coots  are still on the lake which is good to see. The two Egyptian Geese  are still together and may be nesting soon. There was one, and possibly two, Grey Herons  fishing. A male Cormorant  was following them around. It was already showing the white breeding-plumage patch on its flanks. There was a big flock of Canada Geese  and growing numbers of Moorhen  and Mallard . A Treecreeper  was a nice find. I am sure they are always present but elusive. Outside our patch, nearby in Grattons Park, there were: a flock of Redwings; two Goldcrests; a Little Egret and a group of Siskins. A full list of the birds seen is given in the Bird Table .
