Wednesday 17th April 2019 - 10:45 to 12:15 It was a lovely sunny morning as I set out to try and see the young Great Crested Grebes which had been reported the day before (16 April). The first family I met were the Egyptian Geese with 6 growing goslings . It seems that 2 have been lost already. They were quite tame but wary if people or dogs got too close. Two very young Great Crested Grebes were just visible in the nest and on the back of one of the parents. The adults were feeding small feathers to them. This helps in preparing their digestive system to cope with fish. A Common Buzzard was joined by a second one and they circled around over the park. A Sparrowhawk flew along the treeline at the end of the lake. A full list of the birds seen is in the Bird Table .
