Thursday 13th February 2020 - 10:30 to 11:30 We combined the snowdrop-themed Thursday walk with a count of the birds . In spite of the bad weather some 20 hardy wanderers braved the showers and enjoyed the emerging flowers and looking for the birds. The large number of Canada Geese were a challenge to count. One Egyptian Goose was seen - we hope the other one may be nesting. The pair of Great Crested Grebes were displaying next to the beginnings of their new nest. We enjoyed seeing a Goldcrest quite close and out in the open on one of the cedar trees. The highlight was an obliging Kingfisher that sat out in the open for long enough for us all to see it. For some it was a lifetime first. A full list with the numbers of birds seen is given in the Bird Table .
