The highlight of our walk was seeing the
Kingfisher
for the first time since February.
We saw it several times as we walked around the lake.
It was a lovely sunny, warm morning.
The two
Great Crested Grebes
were displaying to each other. Only time will tell if
they manage to nest and breed. They are impossible to predict.
Two
Black-headed Gulls
were back after their spring absence.
A pair of
Moorhens
had three very small babies.
There were families of young
Coots
of different sizes and ages.
The juvenile
Canada Geese
are growing their first adult plumage and look like
sketched versions of their parents.
A
Grey Heron
was dozing on one of the islands.
A full list of birds seen is given in the
Bird Table
.
