There were small flocks of
Redwing
in the park and by the lake. They were watching
from the tops of trees and flying down to eat the holly berries when the coast was
clear.
Two
Great Crested Grebes
were on the lake.
There were many
gulls
-
Herring and Black-headed
.
The highlight was a
Kingfisher
that sat among the leaves low to the water on one of
the islands. It hardly moved for several minutes. Apparently it has been seen there
several times over recent days.
There were three
Cormorants
.
The mixed flock of
feral pigeons
and
white doves
is growing.
The pair of
Egyptian Geese
came close asking to be fed. It looks like their
youngsters have finally left.
It was good to see three
Coal Tits
but generally small birds were hard to find.
A full list of birds seen is given in the
Bird Table
.
