We had not planned to visit the park today. But an early message from Vaughan
Crequer alerted us to the arrival of a
Swan
.
Thank you Vaughan for the tip. Not a
rare bird by any means and hardly noticed by the other walkers. But it is a new
addition to my patch list - so we went. Possibly the easiest tick of all time; we could
see it on the lake all the way from the top of the meadow.
The
Mallards
are paired up and looking very fine in their breeding plumage.
The
Coots
are fighting furiously.
The
Great Crested Grebes
are together at their nest site.
The four
juvenile Egyptian Geese
are now as big as a
Mallard Duck
and their first
adult feathers are showing through their down.
The solitary
Greylag Goose
is still with the
Canada Geese
.
We saw a
Treecreeper
a few days ago (13-03-21).
A full list of birds seen is given in the
Bird Table
.
