The hot spell had broken during the night. It had just stopped raining by the time I
set off. It was very humid and close.
There were swarms of midges under the trees. Perhaps the insects were attracting
the fish because there were lots of
large fish
cruising at the surface of the lake and
jumping.
A
Grey Heron
had returned.
The different age groups of
Canada Geese
now all look almost like their parents.
For a while there was only one
Great Crested Grebe
. But another flew in later and
they displayed.
Two
Egyptian Geese
were together.
As I walked back up the meadow two
Greylag Geese
flew into the lake.
A full list of birds seen is given in the
Bird Table
.
