It was a sun-shower day; bright sunshine with sudden heavy rain showers at the
same time. There was a low rainbow over the houses at the north end of the lake.
When we were young this weather was called a fox's wedding.
We saw a new bird for our patch list - a very smart male
Mandarin duck
. When we
first saw him he was dozing on the bank. Later he was swimming with some of the
many
Mallards
.
A
Cormorant
was fishing but did not catch any of the quite large fish cruising just
below the surface.
A full list of birds seen is given in the
Bird Table
.
